The through-line of this summer in Agoura Hills is not a single restaurant opening or a headliner at The Canyon. It is a bridge. By the time the concert series wraps in August, the largest wildlife crossing of its kind in the world will be nearly finished over the 101, and the way you think about the north and south sides of town, and everything green between them, will have changed. The rest of the season sits underneath that fact.
Here is what is worth putting on the calendar, in the order it will unfold, with the specifics your neighbors are already trading over coffee at Hatch.
The Bridge Overhead
If you have driven the 101 past Liberty Canyon lately, you have watched the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing move from a concrete deck to something that reads, from the shoulder, like land. That is intentional. Caltrans announced that a major addition has started on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, the world's largest of its kind, which will connect open space on both sides of US 101 in Agoura Hills, with approximately 5,000 native plants installed atop the bridge and completion scheduled for fall 2026.
The plant list is worth knowing because you will see these species repeated in every new landscape plan in town for the next decade. The collection includes coastal sage scrub species such as California aster, purple sage, hoaryleaf ceanothus, narrowleaf milkweed, bush sunflowers, and scarlet bugler, and the habitat is designed to support the movement of native species like mountain lions, bobcats, deer, foxes, and pollinators while reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions and the genetic isolation caused by freeways.
Practical translation for a resident: expect the trail networks on either side, from Cheeseboro to the Santa Monica Mountains conservancy lands, to see incrementally more traffic from wildlife and people over the next few years. It also gives you a story to tell out-of-town guests that doesn't require driving anywhere.
What Has Opened, and What Is About to
The shopping centers along Kanan and Agoura Road are quietly refreshing at the same time. Three items are worth putting on your regular rotation.
Malibu Brewing Company. The single most anticipated opening of the year. Malibu Brewing Company anticipates opening in spring 2026 at 29281 Agoura Road at Kanan, in the former Tavern Tomoko and Ladyface Alehouse location, with updates at brewmalibu.com. That corner has been dark long enough that its return matters beyond the beer list. If you remember what Ladyface did for weeknight foot traffic on that stretch of Agoura Road, you have a preview of what the block will feel like again.
Azuki Boba & Tea. Azuki Boba & Tea is now open in the Agoura Meadows shopping center, the one anchored by Vons, CVS, and Italia Deli, as its second location, joining the original in the North Ranch Shopping Mall at 3835 East Thousand Oaks Boulevard. Useful to know when the after-school run needs a stop that is not another chain.
Sunrose, in Whizin Market Square. Sunrose has made a splash in the Conejo Valley culinary scene since opening in Whizin Market Square, offering a modern twist on classic California flavors in an airy, friendly atmosphere with brunch served all day, a larger menu after 10 a.m., and Roman-style flatbreads alongside mimosas and avocado toast. Whizin has been slowly earning its keep as a destination rather than a pass-through, and Sunrose is the reason the parking lot is full on Saturday mornings.
There is one more item in the Agoura Village Center pipeline worth tracking, because it will change the character of the block if approved. The Agoura Hills Planning Commission reviewed an application for a dance studio, cafe, and outdoor dining area at 29020 Agoura Road, with the proposed cafe named Connections Cafe and the studio called Builders of a Better World, described by the applicant as a destination for locals seeking community through dance or the simple act of grabbing a cup of coffee and a bite to eat, with a 2,272 sq ft cafe, a 5,351 sq ft dance studio, and 662 sq ft of outdoor dining, and staff recommending approval. Watch that address if you have kids in dance or a weekend coffee habit.
Sunday Nights at Chumash Park
The free summer series is the closest thing Agoura Hills has to a standing weekly ritual, and this year has one date that will draw people who normally skip it.
The City of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and the DIY Home Center present the 2026 Summer Concerts in the Park, held at 6 p.m. on Sundays and free of charge. A $2 donation is suggested, food trucks are on hand, and all concerts are at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive.

The 2026 schedule includes Skynard Reloaded on June 14, Disco Inferno with a patriotic drone show after the concert on July 5, Fortunate Son on August 2, and Turn the Page on August 16, with food available for purchase and chairs and blankets encouraged.
The July 5 date is the one to plan around. Agoura Hills' Summer Concerts in the Park closes the long weekend at Chumash Park with a patriotic 300-drone show by Sky Elements after a free DSB Journey tribute concert. A 300-drone show over Medea Valley Drive is not a small piece of programming. If you have out-of-town family in for the holiday, this is the plan. Get there early. Parking on Chesebro past 5 p.m. will not be casual.
The Canyon, When You Want a Room With a Ceiling
For the nights when a blanket on the grass isn't the answer, The Canyon at 28912 Roadside Drive is running a dense summer calendar. A few picks that stand out from the list:

Bingo Night at The Canyon runs on Mondays at 6 p.m., and the venue is also selling a 2026 Summer Concert Pass. If you go more than three times a summer, the pass math starts to work in your favor.
Putting It Together
A workable July weekend, using only what is on this page: coffee and a flatbread at Sunrose Saturday morning, a drive down Agoura Road past the Malibu Brewing build-out and the future Connections Cafe site so you know what is coming, boba on the way home from Vons, Sunday evening at Chumash Park with chairs and a light jacket for the drone show, and a Friday next month at The Canyon with Ambrosia or Poncho Sanchez, depending on whose taste is winning that week.
Underneath all of it, the bridge over the 101 keeps growing its cover of California aster and purple sage, and by the time the last tribute act plays on August 16, the crossing will be within weeks of opening.
